During the Aviation Conference in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that air taxis would soon become a reality in India, aiming to make air travel more affordable.

Addressing around 300 representatives from 29 countries, he highlighted the middle class as a key driver of growth in the aviation sector.

Modi credited the regional connectivity scheme, UDAN, for making air travel accessible to people from smaller cities.

Since its implementation, around 14 million people have flown, reflecting a surge in demand.

He also noted that India is the world’s fastest-growing aviation market, with airlines having placed orders for 1,200 new aircraft.

However, he stressed the need for continuous technological advancements and a skilled workforce to support the sector's rapid growth.
